How to Buy a Party Dress for the Next Swedish Event?

Thanks to the internet, it has become very easy to buy a party dress. You don’t have to go store to store to look for a dress that you can wear to an event, regardless if it is a formal or informal event. Online shopping has changed the way people shop, and it has made everything very convenient. Even then, however, it can be a difficult task because of all the choices and variety that is out there. In order to make life easier for you, we have made a guide that will help you find the party dresses that you need.

What kind of a party is it?

When it comes to finding the right dress in Sweden, the kind of party (in Swedish we call it “fest”) it is will matter a lot. Swedish people put a lot of emphasis on their aspect. You have to decide on things like the length, colour and material of the dress and the nature of the event will highly impact that. If it is a formal event like a charity ball gown, then you should opt for longer dresses which will give off a very ethereal look. The time of the event will affect the colour of the dress, for instance if it is a night time event, then you should go for dark colours such as black, emerald green, scarlet etc.

Coordinate the colours with your skin tone

You will like lots of dresses that you come across either online or in stores, but make sure that you choose a dress that is appropriate for your skin tone. There are three categories of skin tones which are warm, cool and neutral which will be present in your complexions. Colours like black, white and grey look great on warm undertones. If you have cool undertones to your complexions, which are common amongst Swedish girls, then colours such as yellow, pink and red will complement your skin tone very well. And when it comes to neutral undertones, both light and dark colours will work great. However, in the end it all depends on how confident you are and you will be able to pull anything off.

What is your body shape?

The shape of your body will highly impact the kind of dress you select for an event. Keep in mind that you will be walking around for hours in that dress, so you need to be as comfortable as possible. If you have a pear shaped body, you should go for A-line dresses that will divert attention from your torso to the beautiful flowing skirt. If you are skinny, you can go for a short body con dress that will give off the illusion of a taller height. If you are curvy and have an apple shaped body, then you should go for V-necks with broad straps.

Don’t be afraid to experiment with sequins

A dress studded with sequins can be a total game changer. It can be as simple as a little black dress, but if it has sequins all over it then it can become the most perfect dress for your next party! Some Swedish designers are advocates for sequins and they believe it is the key formula for the perfect party dress (FYI, in Swedish it is called “festklänning“). According to them, a sequin studded dress exuberates that you spent a fortune on the dress even when you might not have spent that much.

Vintage look

If you consider vintage a huge part of your style, then you should go for something that has fringes. It might sound overwhelming to some, but with a fringe dress you will be compelled to move around and end up being the life of the party. It’s almost as if the dress itself will be doing the moving for you! Such dresses are great for cocktail events, and they really end up supporting the party’s theme and ambience.

In the end whatever dress you choose to wear, the most important thing should be that you feel comfortable and confident in it. Once you will feel confident, you will be able to pull off anything and look incredibly beautiful while doing so, and automatically you will notice that the energy of the room will be drawn to you.
