5 Ways to Use Benches in Your Home

qwfewfewWhen it comes to finding the right seating options in your home, you have more options than you realize. While most people will stick with using traditional chairs, there's another way to provide seating in a more unique fashion—benches.

Benches are a great way to provide seating in your home because they can fit a variety of different styles and tastes, and they can fit well in any room in your home. If you're looking for a new way to provide seating throughout your house, the following are five ways to use benches throughout your home.

  1. Entryway

The entryway is the first part of your home that your guests see, and most homeowners don't like to clutter this space with excess furniture. However, your entryway is also the most used area of your home, which means you need to make it usable. Adding an elegant entryway bench will make your space more practical. Not only can you choose one in various sizes, allowing you to perfectly fit the space, but you can also choose one with a storage compartment. This way, you and your family can put shoes, umbrellas, and anything else in the storage area, keeping it accessible but out of sight.

  1. Bedroom

The bedroom is another area of your home that can benefit from a bench. Think about how often you need to sit down when you're getting ready, and sometimes sitting on the bed is just too impractical, especially if your bed is raised or if you have a lot of pillows. Instead, placing a bench at the foot of your bed (or anywhere else in your room that makes sense) is a great way to help you get ready. Benches come in a variety of colors, styles, and sizes, so you can choose one that matches perfectly to your bedroom's color and décor, or you can opt for one that will serve as an accent piece to the room. The possibilities are endless.

  1. Hallway

When it comes to decorating the hallway, most homeowners tend to stick to wall hangings and maybe an end table, but there's no rule that says this is your only option. Instead of using a table at the end of a long hallway, consider adding a bench instead. This will be a more unique focal piece of the hallway. If you opt for a storage bench, you can still get some organization use out of it too. Plus, this bench will be able to serve as additional seating. For example, if you need some extra chairs for a party, you can just pull that bench out of the hallway and place it somewhere else. Now, you don't have to worry about ugly folding chairs or going to dig something nice up from out of the basement or attic.

  1. Kitchen

Some people think that having a bench in the kitchen is impractical, but it does make sense. Instead of using bulky, uncomfortable chairs at your kitchen or dining room table, put a bench there instead. This will provide more seating for your table, as you can generally fit about three people on a bench for the same amount of space as two chairs. This is especially great if you have small children, as they can all sit together in a more comfortable and useful space. Plus, as mentioned before, if you opt for one that has a storage area, it will serve two purposes.

  1. Outside

You don't have to keep your bench inside the house. Instead, you can place one outside too. This makes a great addition to a patio, as it provides more seating space as well as storage. Plus, you can even opt for a decorative one and use it as a focal point in a garden. Again, this will give you a nice place to sit and relax after a hard day of picking vegetables or killing weeds, and it will also be something nice to look at from afar.
