As the weather turns into a more manageable temperature for your outdoor trips, it’s time to put a list together of what you’ll need for your next trip. You want to be prepared and safe without overdoing it. We’re putting together a list of what you’ll need for your next adventure.
1) Camp Cooking Supplies.
Do a little research and find supplies that allow for an “all-in-one” feature, such as three varieties of pots built into one. You’ll want sufficient cooking supplies without overdoing it, of course. Not to mention, come prepared with three days of food and water if you going on an extensive hiking trip. If you can’t carry the water, make sure to carry water treatments or filters.
2) First Aid Kit
Invest in a decent first aid kit and make sure you have an extra supply of prescription medication that you (or your travel mates) may need.
3) A way to reach the outside world.
This means you have a cell phone that is fully charged along with a backup charger that doesn’t require you to plug it in (think solar powered charger). If you are going into an area that doesn’t have a lot of cell phone signal, you may want to consider things like a satellite phone to take with you.
4) Fire creating items.
Whether it’s matches (possibly waterproof), lighters, lanterns, and emergency flares, you will need a way to make fire. While you may want to get in touch with your natural roots, the last thing you want to do is to have to do is struggle to get warmth, food, or safety going for yourself.
5) Compass and direction.
You will need to know where to go and how to get there. Yes, you may have that amazing smart phone with all the great features, but at the end of the day, you will want to have the basic paper map of the area, and a compass to guide. Not to mention, get to know the area before you venture out into it. Research and get some tips and help from those who have been there before.
The summer is a great opportunity to get outdoors and start an adventure. Just make sure you are prepared in advance.
