It seems that it is going to be a long winter, and if you are not a type of person that spends holidays skiing, you will need to arm yourself with plenty of good books. But it is not just about what you read, but where you do it. You will need a warm and cozy corner in your home where you can properly relax and enjoy the Notebook for the hundredth time. Pick an interesting new armchair, or a couch, just make sure that it is soft and possibly with a lot of cushions, as not everything that looks good is necessarily comfortable.

After choosing the appropriate sitting item, move on to lamps. Days are short in the winter, and it won't be long before you will need to turn some extra light on in your room. In this case the best choice is to get yourself a floor lamp and place it in the corner where you want to read. There are so many creative lamp designs out there, you are bound to find a perfect one for your room. Go for the unusual design and see what it will do to the ambience. When you read, make sure the lamp is pointed right at the book, as you will want to see the pages bright and clear so that you don't damage your sight.

Cover the Walls

Even if your walls are not painted in white or any other neutral color, they might look dull after some time. This is why you should look for interesting pictures and paintings that will best express your personality. For example, if you like to travel, you can look for photos of different world capitals, or even put some of your own photographs that you made back when you were visiting a foreign country. It's a nice way to put a good memory up on the wall to remind you of the good days when you are feeling a bit down.

Coffee Time

Every living room revolves around the central part of the room, where you can usually find a coffee table. It is the most important furniture item, because it gathers friends and family around it, whether for the morning coffee or the afternoon tea, to talk about the highlights of their day. That is why it should be interesting and unusual, but most of all big enough so that everyone, no matter where they are sitting in the room, can reach it and put their cups down whenever they wish to.

So there you have it, five simple ways to add life to your living room without putting a big dent on your wallet. It doesn’t always have to be something complicated. In fact, the simplest solutions are very often the best.
