Enhance your home's kerb appeal

Fireplace ChimneyWhile it's been said that you should never judge a book by its cover, the same doesn't apply to houses. People are fickle, and it's often the case that we'll make a huge judgement about a house before even setting foot inside the property. In fact, a property's outside appearance, or ‘kerb appeal' can play a huge role in the purchase or sale of a home, and it takes potential buyers only eight seconds before they can tell whether they love or hate a home. True story! First impressions count for a huge amount in property, and it's important to make the most of your property-whether you're looking to sell or not. A beautifully presented home makes you happy to come back to it every evening after work, and you'll find that you reap the benefits of your hard work for years to come. Let's take a look at some of these simple ways to enhance your home's kerb appeal (the easy way).

Step One-Give your front door a good lick of paint. I hate painting-and I'll be the first one to admit it-but painting a door? That's not such a huge deal! The lift that a brightly coloured front door can give to a property is phenomenal, and you'll enjoy the facelift that it gives to your house. Pick a colour that works well with your current colour scheme and then go crazy. You might even get the painting bug and do the windows as well to match!

Step Two-Get some nice patio furniture

If you have a porch or patio it's a nice touch if you have a lovely comfortable day bed out the front, or a cute sitting space for enjoying a cup of tea in the afternoons. It's a lovely touch and adds a real feel of homeliness to a property.

Step Three-Dress up your windows

You might still have some old ratty blinds on the windows from when you first moved in-but trust me when I say that investing in some quality blinds makes a huge difference. I have a friend who recently bought new all weather blinds, and because of the constant rain she made sure she spent a bit more and got top quality blinds. She's definitely reaping the rewards of this now, with the beautiful addition to her home and the extra protection for her property.

Step Four-Fix up your number

If you have some shoddy numbering on your house, or if your house is missing a number you should fix this up-pronto! It's going to make a big difference in the sense that it appears more classy with a good number out the front. Plus, the postman will probably thank you.

Step Five-Clean your windows

There's nothing worse than having to clean windows-it's boring and dirty. If you can't be bothered doing it yourself, why not pay someone to do it for you? It's a small amount to pay for a great and professional job, and your home will look so much smarter for it.
