Improving Enterprise Label Printing Productivity with Epson ColorWorks CW-C6500 Color Label Printers

In January 2020, Epson’s newest ColorWorks label printer will arrive, this time targeting the enterprise label printing industry. Previous ColorWorks printers have transformed how healthcare providers and small businesses print their labels. The new Epson ColorWorks CW-C6500 color label printer is set to be just as transformative with enterprise organizations.

Why the Epson ColorWorks CW-C6500 Will Change the Way Enterprises Print Labels

Epson CW-C6500A (auto cutter) and the Epson CW-C6500P (peeler) color label printers are the first color label printers purposefully designed as color replacements for black-and-white thermal transfer printers. Enterprises have used thermal transfer printers in fleet configurations for many years because they are affordable, reliable, and flexible. However, they print only black and white labels. The Epson CW-C6500 color label printers print 8-inch labels in full color and offer comparable pricing and capabilities as the thermal transfer printers they are designed to replace.

For example, with a thermal transfer printer fleet, companies are limited to black and white labels unless they purchase pre-printed color labels and then use the thermal transfer printer to overprint text and barcodes on top. This requirement for preprinted labels is inefficient, wasteful, and costly. Employees must constantly manage label inventory to avoid downtime, and if the label design needs to change, the preprinted labels will be wasted.

Having a fleet of Epson CW-C6500 color label printers eliminates the need for pre-printed labels, allowing companies to print their labels in full color on demand. They’ll no longer need to manage label inventory, risk downtime due to print supplier provider delays, or waste labels due to branding or other changes.

Epson ColorWorks CW-C6500 Features

The Epson CW-C6500 color label printer is well equipped for the challenges of enterprise label printing. With remote printer management features and broad compatibility with ZPL II, SAP, middleware, Windows, Mac, and Linux, the Epson CW-C6500 color label printer integrates seamlessly into existing thermal printer fleets. The Epson CW-C6500 color label printer offers up to 1200 dpi print resolution and uses Epson UltraChrome DL pigment ink to produce durable color labels. In fact, when used with certain chemical labels (like DuraFast Chemical labels from DuraFast Label Company), the printer prints GHS BS5609 labels.

Powered by Epson PrecisionCore FTP serial printhead technology, the Epson CW-C6500 color label printer prints high quality labels with crisp text and graphics. A general purpose I/O port allows for the connection and control of a label applicator.

Two models of the Epson CW-C6500 color label printer are available, one with an auto cutter (CW-C6500A) and the other with a peeler (CW-C6500P) for peel-and-present applications.

The Epson CW-C6500 color label printer is now in the pre-order phase and is expected to begin shipping in early January 2020. Basat Khalifa, CEO of DuraFast Label Company, recommends ordering early as interest is high in these new ColorWorks label printers.
