Home office – efficient work in our home

Unfortunately, the coronavirus epidemic around the world is making life difficult for employers and employees. Many people lose their jobs, companies and businesses go bankrupt. In view of the epidemic situation, work from home, i.e. the so-called “home office”, has become increasingly common. Of course, this type of work cannot be extended to all business lines, but it can be solved quite well in the case of computer-based jobs in offices. Thanks to this, employees can keep their jobs and employers can maintain their company and business. Colleagues don’t have to get up at dawn, long trips and their costs can be saved, and we can get to work more relaxed, comfortably. But no matter how simple the home office method may seem, there are pitfalls to it.

How to create ideal conditions for calm work from home?

When we work out our usual working hours while sitting in the office, in front of a laptop or computer, we can only focus on work, apart from noise and events at work. However, the home environment is not always calm and quiet enough to allow us to focus properly on the tasks ahead. This is especially true for parents raising a child. I think many of us are familiar with the situation where the buzzing and loud play of children of different ages makes it impossible to pay attention and work mentally. With the introduction of online school education, parents have even more responsibilities. However, maintaining jobs is a matter of life, as the cost of living imposes a serious financial burden on families. It may not be enough space in every home to work away from your computer and phone. However, if the conditions are right and there is a corner in the house or apartment where we can go aside, taking care of some basic aspects, we can do our daily work smoothly.

Silence and peace at work

Complete silence is almost impossible to realize, practically every moment of our lives is surrounded by sounds that we cannot rule out. However, for undisturbed work, with a little care, we can create a pleasant, relatively quiet environment. By acoustically treating the space that makes up your home office, you can reduce unnecessary noise and echoes. Acoustic sound-absorbing and diffuser panels can be placed on the walls and ceiling of the rooms. These elements are made of effective sound-absorbing materials and, in addition, are even aesthetic home accessories. If you want to create an even better and more homely atmosphere around you, let’s make photo wall panels on which almost any style of photo can be printed. The custom panels can also display family photos, landscapes and cityscapes, musical instruments, stars and movies, and pictures of our favourite pets. Thus, these acoustic panels are practical sound insulators and decorative elements at the same time. It is also possible to eliminate large amounts of extremely disturbing noise from the windows with the help of soundproof curtains. Thick, densely woven fabrics also block light and noise, further enhancing the harmonious atmosphere.

Don’t forget about the floor! Hard-surfaced floors, or traditional rugs, cannot absorb sound with real efficiency. Acoustic carpets can reduce noise and sounds by up to 20-30 decibels. If the acoustics of a given room can be improved to be as ideal as possible, we will soon notice its beneficial effect. A calmer, more undisturbed, noise-free environment helps you work productively. We can concentrate better, our memory and thinking ability are also strengthened. If we don’t have to endure the throbbing that is constantly filtering into our ears and brains, we need to put less effort into paying attention and understanding our duties. There is less chance of making mistakes and we feel less exhausted at the end of working hours. If we conduct our business affairs and negotiations from home, via a computer or by telephone, sound insulation becomes even more pronounced. There are confidential topics, business discussions that cannot get into a neighbor’s ear. Nor is it a disadvantage that our conversations do not disturb family members at home either. Online school learning requires a similarly calm and quiet environment.
