The Benefits of a Luxury Ski Holiday

skingA ski holiday can be an exciting and exhilarating experience, but with luxury ski holidays you will have the added benefit of home comforts and modern facilities. Many ski chalets offer luxurious extras which will enhance the overall experience.

Hot tubs

After a day on the slopes, you can relax in a hot tub. A hot tub on the terrace can be the ideal way to wind down after a day of skiing, while looking at spectacular mountain views. Spending time in a hot tub can help to soothe muscle strains and aid a restful sleep.

Hot tubs may be located on the terrace or balcony overlooking the views, or inside the chalet within a wellness suite. Other facilities in the wellness suite may include steam rooms and monsoon showers.

Electronic entertainment

In the evening, you may just want to spend time relaxing in the chalet. Most luxury ski chalets are well equipped with modern technology, including plasma televisions with satellite or cable, modern music systems and DVD players. Most will also provide a selection of DVDs and music. Some chalets will have a separate private cinema and media room.

Luxury ski chalets are normally equipped with Wi-Fi, with some even providing an iPad for the guests to use.

Catered chalets

Both self-catering and catered chalets are available. The benefit of a catered chalet is that you will have all meals provided as you would in an all-inclusive hotel, but with the bonus of the privacy and space not normally offered by hotel accommodation.

An example of the type of menu offered is a continental breakfast, afternoon tea with a selection of cakes and hot drinks and a three course meal in the evening. Canapés are sometimes provided on the first and last evening. The food served is usually at a very high standard.

Other extras included may be a champagne reception, flowers and daily newspapers.

In many catered chalets, the staff will have one day off a week. This will be an opportunity to try a local restaurant at the ski resort. The ski resort will usually have some shopping facilities, so those who don’t want to eat out can buy food to prepare in the chalet.

In-chalet massages and beauty treatments

Many luxury chalets offer massage and beauty treatments for their guests. There may be an additional charge for this, but the treatment will take place in the privacy of the chalet. This will make the experience more relaxing, as there will be no need to travel to a health spa to receive the treatment. A massage may be needed to relieve aching muscles after a day on the slopes, or it may just be an ideal way to pamper yourself.

Other beauty treatments that may be offered include facial treatments, body treatments, manicures and pedicures.

Fitness centres

Most ski resorts will have a gym or fitness centre for the use of their guests, but some luxury ski chalets have their own swimming pool and gym facilities. This could be ideal for those who want to have a quick workout or swim in the morning, as this can easily be done before breakfast without needing leave the chalet. Many people may also prefer to work out or swim in private, rather than using shared facilities.

A holiday at a luxury ski chalet can offer home comforts and much more. Along with enjoying the skiing and the beautiful mountain scenery, you can be pampered and well looked after during your stay, with gourmet food, modern facilities and first class hospitality.
