6 Holiday Decoration Ideas for Your Front Porch

Outdoor RoomIt’s the most wonderful time of the year again! The holidays are quickly approaching and it’s time to spread some of that holiday spirit by decorating your home. While you probably already have the interior of your home covered for the holiday season, let’s talk about an important part that sometimes goes unnoticed – your brick front porch.

Sure, you put lights up on the windows and maybe some candy cane statues along the walkway to the front door, but you may not know what exactly to put on your porch to make it celebrate the season.

There are plenty of things you can put out there and below we have six stunning décor ideas to help get you started.

The Classic Wreath

One of the most classic holiday decorations you can put on your front porch is a bountiful wreath hanging on your front door. Now, just because we referred to a wreath as a traditional decoration for the holidays doesn’t mean you have to use a traditionally styled wreath. There are plenty of fun and innovative wreaths out there!

You can choose wintery wreaths like snowmen or ones made from ornaments. You can even make one yourself if you’re feeling creative!

Christmas Tree

Trees belong outside, right? So, why not place a Christmas tree right on your front porch to welcome guests into your little winter wonderland?

To really make your Christmas tree stand out on your porch, decorate it with a theme to match the rest of the decorations you put out there. For example, if you’re sticking to a more natural and rustic theme, hang pinecones and ornaments of birds on the tree’s branches.

Garland Everywhere

Garland is one of those must-have staple decorations during the holiday season. There are so many different things you can do with it – let your creativity shine through!

You can wrap the poles on your porch in it or drape it around your front door. Don’t be afraid to add some unique touches to it and add cranberries or some sparkle to your garland.

Antique Décor

One theme you can use to decorate your front porch for the holidays is antique. Find some old wooden sleds or taboggans to get started. You can usually find these in old antique shops or even garage sales if you get started on your holiday planning early enough.

Other wooden décor is helpful here and even some antique ornaments if you decide to put a Christmas tree out there too. Don’t forget to also match your wreath to your antique theme as well!

String Lights

Nothing says the holidays like strategically placed string lights. Brighten up your front porch and welcome guests into your home with stunning string lights hung up around your porch. Whether they are wrapped around your Christmas tree, porch poles, or around the door, every home decorated for the holidays needs some string lights!

Cozy Central

Depending on how big your front porch is and where you live, you could create a nice seating setting to enjoy a cup of hot chocolate or coffee. Place some outdoor seats with comfy red cushions with blankets to keep you and your guests warm.

If you really want to go all out while you’re hosting the holidays, put a hot chocolate bar out with all the fixings. From marshmallows to whipped cream to a dash of cinnamon, get some cute holiday mugs, a thermos, and don’t forget printed napkins to make your guests really embrace the holiday spirit while warming up with a cup of classic hot cocoa.
