Making Your Anniversary Special

RosesSo what have you planned for your wedding anniversary? How are you going to make that special person in your life know that they are truly appreciated? There are lots of different ways that you can do this, from small sincere gestures, right up to buying lavish jewellery or going on holiday. What you really need is to have some imagination, instead of doing the normal flowers, card, and a meal in a restaurant. Of course, all of these elements can be included, but why not spice things up a bit and make it more interesting for the both of you? There are lots of ways that you can do this, and it does not need to cost you a fortune. If you have children, see if they can stay at a friend's or relative's house for the night and this will make planning much easier.

Good Fashioned Home Cooking

If you both go to work each day, why not take half a day off so that you can prepare something special for your other half. Do a bit of cleaning, get some fresh flowers and cook some good food. You can get some bottles of wine and put on some music while you are busy preparing. With some candles burning, soft music and some delicious home cooking, you can surprise your partner, and it will make the perfect setting for giving them a gift if you have one. This can be an affordable alternative to going to a restaurant, and it is surprising how easy, and quickly a room can be transformed with just a few little touches.

  • Flowers
  • Soft Music
  • Candle Light
  • Decorations
  • Place Settings

It will not take you very long at all to transform your dining room and create a romantic ambience. Do not worry so much about the smaller details, as with the softer light any imperfections will be missed. After all, it is the thought and gesture that counts.

Hire a Catering Service

An alternative to cooking would be to hire the services of a catering company. They can assist with decorating your dining area and will cook a menu which you can set. They can even offer you Silver Service if you require, and they will wait on your needs as if they were your butler. This can be more expensive than if you cook yourself, but it does take a lot of the stress out of the preparation, especially with the food. It also allows you to enjoy a romantic interlude with your partner, from the comfort of your own home.

Book a Trip

Another great way to surprise your partner, and is also very popular, is to go for a romantic weekend away somewhere. If you have children, then you will need to arrange a babysitter for when you are away. If you are looking to surprise your partner, then you should be able to find a friend or family member who will not mind helping out. You can go away either abroad or somewhere in the UK for a short break, where you can relax and pamper each other in luxury. This can be a lot more complicated, especially if you are going abroad, and it can also be quite expensive. You may also find somewhere to eat on a budget if you are looking to spend less money, but Pizza Hut is probably out of the question!

Going to a Restaurant

You can always do the timeless classic, and surprise your partner by taking them to a restaurant. This is very easy to organize, and if you let the restaurant know that you are celebrating your anniversary, they can arrange for something special for you. Keeping this a secret is a lot easier, but the cost of this will all depend on the type of restaurant that you go to. When it comes to food, paying more does not necessarily mean you are getting more. Choose somewhere that has both good food and also a good ambience about the place.

A Thoughtful Gift

However you are going to spend your anniversary together, make sure that you get them a present as well, to show how much they mean to you. You can get a unique eternity ring made up quite cheaply. This can be made from Palladium, which is about half the price of Platinum, or you can use any precious metal that you choose. Getting a bespoke piece of jewellery for your loved one will show them how much you love them, no matter where you eat or travel to!
