7 Common Plumbing Problems at Home

kitchenOne morning you woke up to brush your teeth, but you realized that there was no water. Or maybe you went to take a good shower in the shower and found that the water was not as hot as it usually is. The kitchen faucet is dripping and the ice machine has stopped working. While it is possible that you have a serious plumbing problem, chances are there is a simple problem that you have if you already have experience! Or a plumbing specialist will be able to fix.

Here are some of the most common plumbing problems in homes in Santa Cruz de Tenerife and the other Canary Islands, with which you are surely familiar.

Drain clogs:

It is perhaps the most common pipe problem experienced in your home. No matter if you are in the kitchen, bath, shower or washing, there may be residues such as hair, grease, leftovers and all this can cause serious problems.

While many of these problems can be repaired by simply pouring a pipe cleaner into pipes, this does not always work, especially if you have a completely clogged pipe or a deeper problem in the sewer lines.

Problems on the toilet:

Over time you may begin to notice that to pull the toilet lever you have to force a little or simply cannot.

The truth is that the pieces of equipment located in your toilet tank can and in fact will break with time.

The good news is that you can get a repair kit at any plumbing product store.

You can do the job only, but do not hesitate to call a professional plumber if the job is difficult for you. There is no worse thing than ending up with a toilet that does not pull the chain.

Bad smells:

Have you ever entered a bathroom that smells like dirty cologne?

This smell is not necessarily by the last person who came in and left a mess…

A faulty wax ring improperly installed or damaged under the toilet, can cause this toilet to become a smelly one.

Call a plumber for help if you suspect this may be the case.

Decrease in water pressure:

Maybe you walk into the shower and you realize that there is little water pressure, and of course, this is going to make you have a complicated toilet.

These problems often occur when lime scale and mineral deposits accumulate in shower taps and in general.

Unscrewing the shower head to remove any residue that may exist, can solve the problem, otherwise, it does need the help of a professional to change it completely or look for the most appropriate option.

Noisy pipes:

This is very common in the home; this noise can start with a soft pounding and could progress to be a loud hammering. Loose pipes, water inside the air chambers or a very high water pressure are the cause of these noises.

You will need to call a specialist for pipe repair, who will have to carry out a thorough check on the plumbing system.

Dripping faucets:

There are different types of kitchen and bathroom faucets. Compression taps have washers that can wear out with repeated use.

In some cases, the tires or threads of the washing machine wear out and this leads to water leakage.

Ball and disc faucets generally have a single handle. These faucets are more durable, however, in the event of a leak, the entire unit will have to be replaced.

The water is returned to the bathtub when the washing machine is used:

In many homes and insurance is included yours, the clothes washer and bathtub share a common horizontal drain that will give the same vertical.

Wool, hair and other objects block the vertical pipe and this will cause jams.

To solve this, you have to use a snake and slide the cable through the drain. To find the vertical drop, bend the tip of the snake’s cable to an angle of 15 degrees.

After passing the snake, let the hot water run to take away any dirt.
