Keeping Your Weight Loss Mojo with Motivation

beautiful-boyFor many of us we find that there comes a time in our quest to getting a sleek sexy body when we hit the lack of motivation wall. We decide that one day of falling off the weight loss wagon won't hurt us, but that day turns into weeks, those weeks turn into months, and before we know it we're right back where we started or we find ourselves even farther behind. Losing weight is a journey and you'll need plenty of motivation along the way. Here are some of my favorite motivational tips that have helped me achieve my finest trimming and slimming goals.

Track Your Progress

Being able to see a difference in your appearance is more motivating than you can possibly imagine. As part of your weight loss diet plan, start by taking a full body picture of yourself. I find it's best to do this in as little clothing as possible. Whatever you are comfortable in. Maybe that is in your underwear or maybe that is in that teeny weeny yellow polka dot bikini that you're working to look fabulous in. At the end of every two weeks of your hard work track your progress by taking another picture wearing the same thing. When you are two or three months into trying to lose the weight and feeling like all your hard work is for nothing, go back to your original picture and I promise the differences you’ll see will be the motivation you need to keep up the good fight.

Recruit Moral Support

Once you have set goals for yourself to shed the extra pounds, let the people around you know. Making your friends and family aware of what you are trying to do can be extremely helpful and motivating. When your friends and family know what you are trying to achieve, they can help be the voice of reason when your hunger tells you that eating an entire pizza is a really good idea. Having moral support in this situation will give you the push you need to choose the meal that will help you get the flat stomach you desire.

Know Your Routine

Take the time to plan your days in advance. When you know what your day to day routine will look like ahead of time you are more likely to follow it. This works with both your food choices and your exercise choices. Preparing your lunches ahead of time is a great way to help eliminate the possibility that you'll make the decision to have that double bacon cheeseburger and a large fry because it's convenient. You are more likely to enjoy the healthy meal that you prepared yourself or choose a delicious protein shake instead. Knowing what your workouts will be for the week will also help you mentally prepare and you'll be more likely to follow through.

Reward Yourself

Focus on the positives. Understand that you are on a journey and you need to let yourself appreciate and celebrate the milestones along the way. If you have 60 pounds to lose, reward yourself when you successfully lose your first 10. Maybe there's a pair of shoes or a new shirt you have your eye on. Or maybe you want to treat yourself to a day at the spa.

This is a great way to motivate yourself to keep hitting the smaller goals and will help get you closer to your big picture goal. And every time you wear those new shoes or that new shirt it will remind you that you are making progress and give you that helpful push to keep up the good work.

Now that you’ve got some tools to keep you motivated you'll be able to hang on to your weight loss mojo. The path to having a rockin body can be long and challenging, but the journey is most definitely worth it.
