Non surgical treatments use modern techniques to reduce the appearance of wrinkles. These procedures use small lasers to heat up the dermal layer of the skin where the wrinkles are. This is safe and quick. There is no downtime for these laser treatments and afterwards you can resume your normal daily activities. The wrinkles are less noticeable and the skin will appear firmer and smoother. There are other procedures that are used in addition to lasers. Botox is a common procedure to reduce the appearance of wrinkles. Thin needles inject the Botox solution into the skin. This can be done in the office of a dermatologist. This treatment will fill up the creases in the skin making the wrinkles much less viable. This treatment only takes a matter of minutes and recovery time in minimal. After having Botox you are advised to stay out of the sun for a couple of days. This procedure will last anywhere between three to six months before additional injection are needed.

Surgical procedures such as a face lift are commonly used to get rid of wrinkles. This procedure can help make you look ten or even twenty years younger. When having this procedure you will meet with the doctor to go over the areas that are going to be treated. This can include the neck, lines around the mouth and eyes, and the forehead. The doctor will lift the skin on the face which will allow the tissue under it to be repositioned. This procedure will also remove extra skin that has been sagging. This wrinkle treatment will allow the skin to stay firm for a number of years. Recovery time is greater and it may take several weeks for the swelling to go down and a person to see the results. This procedure will also cost several thousands of dollars.

In addition to lasers and injections there are a number of procedures that are performed by the dermatologist that do not require surgery. There are skin peels that are applied to the area of the skin where the wrinkles are located. These peels are made from a chemical solution that will remove the older layers of skin. Once the skin is removed there will be a new layer that is wrinkle free. There is some recovery time required. A person can expect to miss a day or two or work and take it easy while recovering. Medical Microdermabrasion is a gentler procedure that follows the same theory. The skin is exfoliated to remove all of the dead cells. Once the dead cells are gone the skin will be younger looking and appear firmer. There is little recovery time associated with this procedure.

When deciding to have non surgical or surgical procedures you have to thinks about the pros and the cons of both. While surgery is going to cost more money upfront several of the non surgical treatment will be needed every couple of months. The costs can add up to thousands of dollars over time. Non surgical procedures can be completed within a matter of minutes. There is no downtime after having these procedures. There are limited side effects which include some swelling and bruising. They usually go away within a couple of days. Surgical procedures do require several weeks for a full recovery. Side effects can include pain, bruising, and swelling.

These are just some of the factors when determine what wrinkle procedure is best for you. When considering what type to have be sure to consider the side effects and recovery time. Be sure to consult a doctor and stay under a doctor's to make sure the procedure is effective and will last.
