Advantages of Buying Perfumes Online

perfumesMany people often ask me if I would fragrance online and what I find to be the advantages of doing so.

I'm a firm believer that online shopping is the way forward. Yes, I do still enjoy a trip to the shops and a day of retail therapy from time-to-time but I can honestly say that when it comes to shopping I prefer being in the comfort of my own home and find it to be a superior shopping experience. Here's why:

No Pressure

I expect good customer service when shopping and it's great when there is a knowledgeable sales advisor to help you make your decision. However, sometimes I feel under pressure to buy after looking around a shop for a period of time, especially when you feel that the helpful shop assistant may have their targets to meet! When shopping online this is definitely not the case as you have unlimited time to browse what's on offer without feeling pressurised. Shopping online can also be done 24/7, in the comfort of your own home, or you can browse on the go using a tablet or smartphone. For me this is a massive bonus and is one of the main reasons online shopping appeals so much. There's just something about being able to browse the latest designer offering in my pyjamas that appeals to me-I can't be the only one!

Product Comparison

It's so much easier to compare products online. I find that it can be overwhelming at times when presented with a sea of beautiful bottles and eye-catching advertisements and offers. If buying perfume on a nicely presented, easy to navigate website this is not the case. I find that because of this point you're less likely to get caught up in the moment and make any rash decisions.

Most sites also use a cart or wish-list meaning you can save your selection and return to it another time once you have more information on the fragrance you're considering.

When comparing products online you also have a wide range of resources at your fingertips such as blogs, reviews, forums and social media sites. All of these resources can help you to make an informed decision before purchasing your desired fragrance. I always do my researching into a product before purchasing it online; I think this is one of the reasons why I have been more than happy with the majority of my online shopping experiences.

Defining your Search

Looking for something in particular? Most sites enable you to define your search; this is great if you're looking for a certain brand of perfume. It's also good if you need to keep within a certain budget as you can only browse the fragrances within your chosen price range. Defining your search is also great when purchasing perfumes for other people as I find it to be the most time effective way of buying gifts for friends and family. Keep this in mind the next time you need a last minute gift-most online retailers provide next day delivery!

I personally like to keep my eye out for new releases and it's here I find defining my search a great advantage. By being able to quickly narrow down my search I can browse fragrances by the year they were released or browse from newest to oldest. If I see something I think I may like I can then keep my eye out for any reviews or information on the particular perfume.

Information available

When it comes to fragrances online it can be very difficult to know what you're looking at. When choosing fragrances I think it's important to know the different scents within a fragrance, this is where a good website or online retailer comes in handy. Most websites offer a detailed description of the fragrance which usually includes the different notes within the scent. This is great for buyers new to fragrances and aromas. Good quality online perfume retailers will also provide a fragrance wheel letting you easily identify what ‘fragrance family' your perfume belongs to. This also makes it easier to know which types of scents you prefer in future. Some websites may go one further and suggest fragrances based on what you have previously looked at, these are usually scents that have similar ingredients or fragrance notes in common.
