The Importance of Beauty in the 21th Century

F1

Physical beauty has always been closely related to the social status of a person. Our history can attest to that, as we still talk about Cleopatra, Helen - women who lived in ancient times, long before Audrey Hepburn and Marilyn Monroe set standards for how a woman should behave and dress. There is no point in denying that beauty is important (and it is not immoral to say that), and it will draw people towards you, open new business opportunities and generally make your life a better place. I generally advocate that another side of that coin is the beauty that lies within oneself, but for now, we won't talk about that.

Beautiful Genes

In short: beauty suggests superior genes, which will create a stronger, more resilient offspring - something that people are subconsciously looking for in their partner. Even when not actively trying to create a romantic relationship, attractiveness can be a great head start even in business, both for women and men.

Ages ago, women used charcoal to emphasize their eyes in order to appear more seductive; nowadays, you have plastic surgery that is actively pushing the limits of what is possible. While beauty is said to be in the eye of the beholder, we can agree that there are some standards of beauty that are closely tied to the times they exist in. If you look around you, you can see that there is a whole economy that totally revolves around selling all kinds of beauty products, implants, operations, hair and clothing merchandise, so that you may appear nicer - it is quite a harsh world out there, and there is active pressure on everyone to look their best.

Men Are Not Immune

While I've intentionally mentioned women in my opening paragraph, we can certainly agree that men are subject to this phenomenon as well. Maybe not in such a degree as women (men are still expected to appear nonchalantly beautiful, despite famous men spending hours and hours in the gym, and thousands of dollars on looking their sharpest) but still, it is not something to be neglected when talking about the importance of beauty.

When you look at models, you can see that women are big breasted, and all men have six pack abs. This creates an unnatural illusion that you should look like that as well, but the truth is, not all people can. Simply said, the biology of most people and their constitution do not allow them to look that way without significantly altering their bodies. That is why it is important to find your own unique way of being beautiful.

A smile can conquer, and in our day and age, one cannot allow to have, God-forbid, missing teeth, or a visible cavity. Visiting a dentist has never been a more pleasant experience (when compared to having your teeth pulled out by a barber). It is extremely easy to have simple dental implants that can replace your missing teeth, or have them whitened for a nicer effect. This is a common procedure that can truly impact your life. Someone is more likely to engage in a conversation with you, if you have an approachable smile, with a nice set of teeth. It's as simple as that.

Reality is Distorted

It is important to understand that, if you cannot look like what you see on your TV or online, you can certainly find something that you can achieve. Teeth are a good example that I've mentioned above. If you're struggling with weight, you can forget about all the fancy diets that you read about on Facebook, and try simply eating less. This is not a clear-cut solution, but it shows that not everything has to be expensive to be good. On the other hand, if you are healthy, if you feel good - you will be beautiful.

In the end, we can all say once again, that beauty is in the eye of the beholder, and what is attractive to some may be repugnant to others. You should find your own beauty and try to emphasize it as much as possible, because it is important. Trying to ignore that is like playing a game on hard mode - something that we recommend only for the extremely experienced.
