Option 1: you can contact the department of the issue of the unique identification number or UIDAI directly via email or a phone call. The department’s customer care unit will help and guide you in obtains a duplicate Aadhaar card. Follow their directive to receive the duplicate copy of your Aadhaar card by post at your residence. This process is although time-consuming, so if you are in urgent need of your Aadhaar number do not take this step, rather follow e-Aadhaar card duplication step discussed later.

You can undertake this process if are in no rush, and also have an office near you.

One, if you have retained the copy of your original Aadhaar card acknowledgment slip. Second, if you have misplaced the slip and did not remember the Aadhaar card number. Let us study both the event in details:
Scenario 1: you have retained first acknowledgment slip and knew your Aadhaar number.
This process is the same as if you were applying for an e-Aadhaar card number. Follow these simple steps, and you can download an electronic version of your Aadhaar card that you can print.
Step1: log in to the registration website of the department UIDAI, using the link that was sent to your registered mobile number via SMS

Step 4: save and proceed to download the e-Aadhaar using your location zip code.
Step 5: Take the print out of the downloaded e-Aadhar card and retain the copy for use as a duplicate Aadhaar card.
Scenario:2 When you have lost both your original Aadhaar card and its acknowledgment slip and did not remember the Aadhaar number.
This process too is straightforward to follow, just follow the following steps to regain access to Aadhaar card duplication.
Step1: Visit the official UIDAI website and Look for the section that is designed to obtain lost Aadhaar card number or acknowledgment number particularly.
Step2: fill in your information like email, mobile number, name, address and file request
Step 3: A one-time password will be sent to your register mobile number that you entered in the previous step. Use this OTP to verify your details.
Step 4: you will shortly receive an SMS that will contain either your Aadhaar card number or the acknowledgment slip number. Using this number you can now apply for an e-Aadhaar card using the link on the website.
Step 5: now you access to either your Aadhaar number of acknowledgment number, use this number to file for the e-Aadhaar card and fill in your details again.
Step 6: Here again you will be sent a verification SMS on your registered mobile number to verify and validate the details you entered.
Step 7: a copy of e-Aadhaar card will be generated that you can download and save.
Step 8: Print the copy and retain it for use as Aadhaar card or your identification number.
It is now advised that you should always keep an electronic version of your original Aadhaar card saved in your computer or emails. This will save you from all unnecessary hassle, and you can easily print the downloaded copy of your Aadhaar card and use it. Although, it will be good if you inform the department of the loss of your original Aadhaar card and letting them you retain a duplicate copy. This will keep you on the safer side if your lost Aadhaar card is put to wrong use.
