Compare Maruti-Swift Diesel v/s Petrol Model

Suzuki, the Japanese manufacturer launched Maruti Swift petrol cars in the Indian market in 2005 and in 2007 introduced the diesel models for the same. The reason why these cars were an instant hit in the Indian market were not just because of its design and looks but also due to their engine technology. The diesel variant consists of 1.3-litre DDiS engine and the petrol model has 1.3-litre engine.

Maruti Suzuki Swift is a five door, five-seater hatchback family car. It provides a whole new set of features in every aspect such as price, performance, and appearance. This car comes in a total of six variants. Three variants are for the petrol model and the remaining three belong to the diesel car. The variants are based on the kind of fuel used and only manual transmission system exists in all six versions. The petrol variants are LXi, VXi and ZXi and the diesel variants are LDi, VDi and ZDi.

Maruti Swift petrol versions are priced from Rs 4.4-5.7 lakh and the diesel versions range from Rs 5.5-6.8 lakh. These models are available in six colors such as metallic black, metallic silky-silver, torque blue-metallic, blazing red-metallic, glistening grey-metallic and arctic white.

Maruti Swift Petrol Engine Model

Maruti Swift petrol model has five speed manual transmissions with a displacement of 1197 cc. These cars can go up to a maximum speed of 168 Km/Hour. The petrol engine is a 16 valve light double overhead camshaft (DOCH) engine, which is efficient in decreasing friction and increasing durability. The swift model comprises of the K-series or the advanced K-series petrol engine, which is powered by VVT. This model has improved, enhanced fuel efficiency and reduced emissions.

Swift petrol cars have better and increased performance due to increased power output. Overall the K-series engine is extremely low maintenance because the oil change is required after long intervals and the spark plug has a higher and improved life span. The petrol engine also has enhanced and better NVH due to the presence of the hydraulic engine mount. Maruti Swift provides an acceleration of 0-100Kmph in 11.75 seconds in all its petrol model variants. The maximum power of the petrol Swift car is 87PS at 6000-7000 rpm. The NVH levels are extremely low and once the doors close, no noise can be heard inside the cabin. The maximum torque is of 114Nm at 4000rpm in the petrol model of the Maruti Swift cars.

Maruti Swift diesel model also has the five speed manual transmission gearbox and it consists of the reputable and award winning DDIS diesel engine technology. It has the perfect and the right combination of the intercoolers and turbochargers, which produce cleaner emissions, higher torque and have efficient combustion rates. Diesel models have optimized NVH because they are made up of the 5-step multi injection common rail system that operates at 1400 bar that is also responsible for higher and better combustion of the fuel. Sixteen valve Double overhead camshaft (DOCH) engine enables quick valve operations and also increases the precision for the same. Diesel engines are installed with green oil filters that are very easy to maintain and provide an eco-friendly and environmentally safe BS IV engine.

The swift diesel model also consists of the sixteen valve cylinder head that lead to cleaner emissions and increased, enhanced fuel combustion. The diesel engine throughout its lifespan is 100% maintenance-free due to the presence of the chain drive timing system with auto tensioner that provides for appropriate and perfect valve timing. The maximum power of the diesel Swift car is 87PS at 6000-7000 rpm. The NVH levels are extremely low and once the doors close, no noise can be heard inside the cabin.

Mileage of Maruti Swift Petrol Car

Automotive Research Association of India (ARAI) states that the mileage of the Maruti swift petrol car is 18.6Kmpl. Maruti company claims that the fuel economy of the car is 18.6Kmpl. If the car runs on a highway at a speed of 80-100Kmph without air conditioner, the mileage comes out to be 16.1Kmpl. The city mileage with the air-conditioner turned on is 12.2Kmpl.

Mileage of Maruti Swift Diesel Car

Automotive Research Association of India (ARAI) states that the mileage of the Maruti swift diesel car is 22.9Kmpl. On ground, if the car runs on a highway at a speed of 80-100Kmph without air conditioner, the mileage comes out to be 17.8Kmpl. The city mileage with the air-conditioner turned on is 14.2Kmpl.

Maruti Suzuki Swift models boost of enhanced safety, security and durability for its passengers. The higher versions are installed with the superior dual SRS Airbags that provide and lead to enhanced safety of the driver in case of accidents and emergencies. Another such feature is the presence of the Boost Assist System (BAS) Braking, which leads to increased efficiency and higher, better responsiveness during any uneventful happening. Maruti Swift Exteriors and Interiors

The front design of the Suzuki swift model comprises of the grille with chrome colored "Suzuki" logo placed at the center along with vertical head lamps at the two ends. It has a sporty rear design with crystal clear vertical tail lamps. The side design is also very sporty along with good curves and door handles that match the body color. The interiors have a boot space of 204 liters in all the models and the speed display instrument panel comprises of digital and analog displays.
