improve-android-performance-speed

To improve the performance of our android device we need to know all the capabilities and drawbacks. What are the device hardware limits and how to use maximum processing power while working on the device.Like for example the processor speed, the graphical processor speed, connected devices and etc.You cannot expect to get speed or performance boost grater than those set by the manufacturer, you can clean the smart phone from ads and performance hogs that are annoying and accomplish cleaner and smoother performance for about 20%.

Factory Reset

After period of time playing with your smart phone, installing and removing applications and other customization’s to make it more personal, the operating system cache gets full with unused shortcuts, application leftovers and background processes that waste battery and processing power.

First thing which comes to my mind when trying to boost speed of your android device is doing factory reset.Factory reset is great way to clean all that memory hogs and leftovers from unused applications. And it should be done once in a while to start fresh from the beginning. To reset your phone go to home → settings → privacy → factory data reset.Use of Also it’s good to format your SD card, while doing factory reset.

Custom Roms and Root

Rooting your phone is another way of improving it’s performance and adding more options with the use of customized roms or firmware’s.

There are some risks while rooting but it’s easy job for the careful user. You can learn about the advantages and disadvantages of rooting here. Some of the risks are voiding your warranty, can cause security risks and you can brick your phone beyond any kind of repair. But chances of bricking are minimal, if you know what are you doing, so I encourage rooting as much as you can.

Some of the advantages that you get is a superuser that enables you to go deeper into the phone system. You can customize everything, you can over-clock or under-clock your processor, disable all kinds of advertisements for greater performance and speed boost of your device. For the maximal performance root and use the stock version of android with disabled ads. Also you can try out customized firmware that enchant and offer new options and capabilities for you older android models.

One of the biggest sites where you can get free tools and custom firmwares for rooting is the Cyanogenmod website.Search for your android phone model and you get list of available firmware’s.The process of rooting takes about 20 minutes and few phone restarts, it is one of the best ways to utilize full processor power and improve performance of your android device.

Updates

Great way to improve performance of android devices is managing the updates. Although the most common advice you could get is keeping your device update to latest, I disagree with this, and I think that Android devices run better with it’s stock version application and firmware.

Their preferences and setup are modified for the phones hardware you are running so updating will get you in more trouble than fix anything.

  • To update your android applications open up the Play-Store application → touch the menu icon → my apps → select the application to update, labeled "Update"
  • To enable or disable automatic updates touch the menu → and check the box next to "Auto Update" -I recommend unchecking this and managing the updates yourself.

Do updates when you are forced to, use stock android firmware and applications, to boost speed and improve performance of your android device.

Management of Widgets and Applications

1.Removing unneeded applications

Why having applications which you will never use? They take up memory, and cause slowdowns when you need to load or search some other useful application.Remove the unused applications will free space and memory and help boost speed of your android phone.Have the most essential applications nicely grouped and accessible for faster navigation.

2.Don’t Use Live Wallpapers

Live wallpaper can look nice but they are useless and drain your battery.Using simplistic wallpaper is nicer looking , don’t create big memory hog and have minimum impact on battery life and processor power.

3.Use minimalistic widgets

Having multiply widgets on your home screens can slow down your device boot time and overall speed.Having few minimal widgets that will serve you the most important and necessary information you want to get about appointment, time, date, work etc. will greatly improve the performance of your android device.

4.Kill processes

Make a habit to kill processes running in the background after you finished working. There is a widget available to turn off all the running processes with single tap. Place it on your desktop, and use it whenever you feel like there is something running and taking up your memory and processing power.

5.Use lightweight applications

Some applications require higher amount of memory and processing abilities and they are usually filled with ads . Always check the file size and decide if the application is worth to be installed among all the available lightweight alternatives on the Play-Store..

6.Clean Cache

Great way to boost speed of your android phone is cleaning android application cache. As you work with your application, cached data is stored on phone. Deleting cached data will make available space for the newer. That will fix lag, jitters and other issues you may have with certain application.

7.Animations and Effects

Some android effects, fade, mirror etc. can cause some lag on your device. If you feel annoyed by that you can safely disable them into settings.Sacrificing little look over performance is a way of improving loading speed of applications and overall improving the stability of the Android system.

  • To disable interface effects in android open up settings → developer options → windows animation scale → check off and restart your phone after setting that up.

8.Maps, GPS and Syncing

Maps assistance and GPS location tracking is enabled by default. It can cause slowdowns while working in the background. So if you don’t need maps and GPS location it is recommended to turn this service off.Disabling this, can free up memory and improve performance of your android device.

Syncing with Google servers is nice way of receiving latest news and emails on your phone. As GPS location and maps, syncing will create many background processes which will cause lag. Disable it to generate small amount of speed boost.
