How to Stay Healthy

We do not pay any attention to our health, at least not until we are sneezing or coughing. It's how people work, we do not appreciate the things we have, and we only pay attention when we are afraid of losing it. Staying healthy is not an easy task, and certainly not a cheap one either, and it will require some sacrifices, but you will stay not only fit, but you will have more energy for work, friends and your family.

So, what is the key to being healthy? Probably moderation. Your body requires a lot of things to function properly, but it only requires them in certain doses. You do not want to eat too much salt, but you do not want to avoid it completely. The same goes for sugars, fats, vitamins etc. Moderation must also be applied to other areas of life, not only our diet. An average adult needs around 7 to 9 hours of sleep daily, and both too much and too little sleep will make you cranky and will probably give you a headache.

We have already mentioned that you need at least 7 hours of sleep. You've probably heard about a million times why and how sleep is important, but are you really sleeping properly? Do you have a high quality mattress and a nice pillow? If you do not, then you should really think about buying them. If you are paying attention to the shoes you are wearing during the day, you should also invest some money into the things you are sleeping on. A proper pillow and a mattress will provide good support for your spine, and that can get you well rested and it will get you rid of those unfortunate back pains.

no fast foodDo not eat junk food - don't skip breakfast, ask a nutritionist - You are are probably stressed, and you probably have some financial and work related problems. Is that true? Well, that is also true for every other person on the planet. That is the reason you do not have enough time to spend on preparing complicated meals, and it's much easier for you to simply buy hamburgers and fries for you and your family. But by doing that, your health is going to suffer, and so are your pants. Not only is obesity the main culprit for the plague of cardiovascular diseases, but it is also the reason why many people develop type 2 diabetes. So, in short, find some easy to make recipes online, use fresh ingredients and healthy substitutes. Avoid fizzy drinks, squeeze some lemons and oranges instead.

Exercise - At least twice a week go to the gym, and break some sweat. This is really healthy, and it is one of the most important ways of staying fit and attractive. Not only that, but early morning exercise will provide you with the much needed energy you need to survive a busy day. This is even more important if your job includes sitting in the chair, and typing endless emails. If you are too busy for a gym, go for a run and listen to some music. It can be some great "alone" time, but if you want, you can ask your best friend to come with you too.

Quit smoking and drinking - Probably the hardest part, because of the addictive properties of both cigarettes and alcohol. Try and find some counseling if you need some, and some other ways that can help you quit. And just think of all the money you will save by not smoking? You can easily fix your teeth just the way you’ve always wanted. Nicotine patches can help you, but if you are having troubles, simply avoid situations where you would normally smoke and drink.

There you have it. We realize it looks easier on paper than it actually is, but you will only need to have your mind set on one thing - your health, and stay persistent. If not for yourself, do it for your family and your friends. By following some simple rules, you will easily avoid being sick, and you will stay healthy. That way you can be a better worker, a better parent, friend and a better spouse.
