arthritisAs our bodies age, they become more susceptible to a variety of ailments, aches and pains. Anything from the weather to a bad sleeping position can cause plenty of pain to arise, seemingly out of nowhere, but some people suffer from more chronic forms of pain as a result of inflammatory conditions such as arthritis. Arthritis is a debilitating condition that can reduce movement and quality of life. As such, millions of arthritis sufferers are looking for effective – ways to treat this condition. We’ll review five different ways you can achieve pain relief from arthritis pain, naturally.

Natural Supplements

There are many products on the market that have been proven to assist in the reduction or relief of joint discomfort. Glucosamine, for instance, is a commonly consumed supplement that may help to restore joint functionality and movement range. It works by encouraging the natural production of cartilage, which prevent s bones and joints from rubbing together in ways that cause pain. Glucosamine is a natural solution, but it is not an instant one: it needs to be consumed for several weeks to a couple of months before a difference can be noticed.

Epsom Salt Baths

Long known for its healing properties, Epsom salts, when added to a hot bath can help provide short-term relief of pain in a variety of situations. It not only can help with arthritis, but it can also help with sore muscles and other pains in the body. By adding one-half cup of Epsom salts to a large bowl of warm water – and then soaking your joints – you can relieve pain in as little as 15 minutes. You can also add a larger amount to a hot bath and soak entirely for all-over relief.

Extra Virgin Olive Oil

Extra virgin olive oil has a variety of beneficial properties. Simply take a couple of tablespoons of the oil and rub them into your joints two to three times per day. Additionally, extra virgin olive oil can be consumed for comparable long-term effects. The oil contains anti-inflammatory enzymes that may help reduce the symptoms of arthritis.

Exercise

Even though being in pain can often result in limited mobility, the power of exercise for arthritic pain is immense. A body in motion tends to stay in motion; when your arthritis flares up, it often follows a period of relative inactivity. Exercise helps strengthen the muscles that support the achy joints and can relieve pain in this regard if you consistently exercise. It can also help to lubricate the joints more effectively, something that is sorely needed (no pun intended) when suffering from arthritis.

Peppermint and Eucalyptus Oils

Pain-relieving properties can be found in many natural items, but peppermint and eucalyptus oils have them in spades. Whenever your joints ache, mix a few drops of each of these oils together in another oily substance (extra virgin olive oil is recommended) and apply to any achy areas. This mixture can be made in advance and stored in a secure bottle in a cool, dark place, allowing you to apply whenever necessary.
