Regaining Control over Your Post-Baby Body

girlsAh… motherhood. It's a beautiful gift and something that is infinitely rewarding. That said, it is also, at times, bloody tough going and sometimes you feel like you're never going to get a good night's sleep again in your life. While you're struggling to get all the cleaning and cooking done, you still need to nurture, love and educate your children who depend on you for everything. The good will always outweigh the bad though, and at the end of the day you're blessed with a loving family who adore and cherish you and with unconditional love and happiness.

Motherhood is a tough gig not only on your mental faculties but also on your body, and after bearing children, many women find that their bodies are not what they used to be. Mothers around the world all need to be rewarded for their incredible sacrifice and it can be a very empowering experience to regain control over your post-baby body. After all, mums have put up with a lot and it is only fair that they should be rewarded with a bit of me-time! Times have changed and women no longer have to put up with loose skin and saggy bits, and there is a new movement that says ‘I deserve to feel and look amazing'-and it's possible to do so affordably. This movement is called the ‘Mummy makeover' and we wanted to talk about some of the mummy makeover procedures which you can opt for which will leave you looking and feeling amazing.

Optional procedures

  • Tummy tuck
  • Liposuction
  • Breast augmentation (including implants)
  • Breast list

Usually, you will see women choosing to undergo a couple of procedures at the same time which saves on surgery time and also leaves them feeling renewed and more beautiful than ever! After all, why should your self esteem and physical appearance come last? You should feel and look as good as you want to so that you are able to be happy with yourself and your physical appearance.

So when should you consider undergoing any of these procedures? It's entirely up to you as this is a very personal choice and one that you need to understand fully. An ideal candidate for this kind of surgery though would generally have completed her family with no further children planned, would have support from her partner and family (especially when you consider the post-surgery aftercare), would have stopped breastfeeding at least six months prior and would have reached her ideal weight (also ideally at least six months prior).

Women who have unrealistic expectations about the surgical procedure that they're going to be undertaking would be advised to speak to a surgeon or doctor about what it is that they're unhappy with, so that they can get advice about what the outcome will be. After all, while surgery can go a long way towards making a woman's self-esteem higher, it is not a fix-all solution and it is something that needs to be approached carefully and with due consideration for mental health. A good surgeon is going to be able to discuss any concerns and issues that a potential surgical candidate is going to have.

Sometimes, aesthetic goals aren't the only reason for surgery, as women can endure abdominal wall damage and/or breast ptosis (sagging breasts) which can put women in line for possible medical financial aid from the government.

Hopefully, this has gone some way towards explaining the possible kinds of plastic surgery that you can undergo as a mother who just wants a bit of help getting her body back to the incredible shape it was. You're no longer limited to just diet and exercise, and sometimes the best possible help can come in the form of a little nip and tuck-after all, you're worth it!
