Going through a breakup can be very difficult. Getting back in the dating game can be even harder. You need to look good to make a good impression.

Remember: Other Women Aren’t Your Ex

While you are in a relationship, you get into the habit of pleasing your significant other. You dress the way they like you to dress. You follow certain routines when you are passionate.

Here’s something no pickup artist will ever tell you – all women are different. You can’t follow the same scripts with each of them.

You need to forget everything you did to please your ex. You may have dated a hipster women that enjoyed seeing you dress in clothes you picked up from a thrift store, but that sense of style won’t impress a woman in a professional career that enjoys hitting up high end clubs on the weekends.

You need to think about the types of women you want to attract and dress accordingly.

Invest in a Good Pair of Blue Jeans

The dating experts at Eharmony recently wrote a post on style tips for single men. They emphasized the importance of buying a great pair of blue jeans.

You probably have no problem spending a couple hundred dollars on a blazer, so why not spend a decent amount of money on jeans?

Here are some great jeans to add to your wardrobe:

  • Joe’s Saville Row
  • Lee Tapered Slim
  • Paige Lennox Indo
  • Levi’s 541 Athletic Fit

You will need to pay at least $150 to get a decent pair of jeans, but it will be well worth it.

Grow a Well Kept Beard

Many men shave every day, because they don’t like the way a beard looks. You may want to reconsider. While you may not like your beard, the average women does. Research has shown that women feel beards make men look more masculine.

Of course, you need to make sure your beard is well kept. Try to trim and grow your beard carefully.

Get Yourself a Manicure

You probably thought manicures are for women, but single men should get them too. Why?

A manicure makes you look much tidier. Women are often turned off by long nails.

 Wear Dull Colors

Women can get away with wearing bold colors, such as orange and yellow. They don’t want to see men dressing the same.

It is important to understand the psychology of colors. Whether it is rational or not, the colors of your wardrobe send women a message about your personality. If you wear a lot of bright colors, they will subconsciously perceive you to be unreliable, unstable and unable to be a decent provider. That may be far from the truth, but perception is everything when it comes to dating.

You should more conservative colors, such as grey, blue or white. These colors signify stability. They will send the message that you have a decent job, are financially responsible and are sensible about taking risks.

Get a Good Pair of Shoes

Too many men overlook the importance of a good pair of shoes. They assume that women don’t pay any attention to them, but nothing could be further from the truth!

The reality is that women often look at your shoes before your face. Your shoes say a lot about your financial situation and character, which are two of the most important factors they are looking for in a mate.

What kind of shoes should you wear? You have a couple of options. You may want to look at a pair of alligator boots or wide loafers. Make sure they are professional looking without being too bold.
